The Westcott Easy Boom 28" allows a full range of motion for your light/modifier (up to 15lbs) to make quick vertical changes (up to 32") by just raising/lowering the light once balanced.
Key Steps:
Keep locking pin in/engaged when mounting light
Add sandbag at opposite end to balance the Easy Boom [unlock pins to slide counter weight and then lock it]
Remove sandbag [locking pin is still engaged] to raise the c-stand center column as it gets heavy to do so once it's on (use apple box or studio's step ladder stored in back if you need the extra reach)
Add back sandbag so it's counterbalanced
Add another sandbag at base of rolling c-stand opposite of boomed arm to ensure it doesn't tip over
Remove locking pin once light is raised without sandbag
WARNING
Light + modifier + sandbag gets really heavy when raising and lowering the c-stand's center column. Because it's not on a geared light stand, I highly recommend locking the Easy Boom with a locking pin and removing the sandbag used as a counterbalance when lowering or raising the C-stand column.
